Aadhaar Enabled Payment System
Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) is a type of payment system that is based on the Unique Identification Number and allows Aadhaar card holders to seamlessly make financial and Non-Financial transactions through Aadhaar-based authentication.
The AePS system aims to empower all sections of the society by making financial and banking services available to all through Aadhaar.
Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) allows a bank customer to use Aadhaar as his/her identity to access his/her Aadhaar enabled bank account and perform basic banking transactions like Cash Deposit, Cash Withdrawal, Aadhaar to Aadhaar Fund transfer, balance enquiry and Mini statement through a Bank branch channel & Business Correspondent (BC) outlet.

- Interoperability: - AePS facilitates inter-operability across banks in a safe and secure manner.
- Ease of Access: - Customer needs to give only biometric identification and a 12-digit unique identification code to initiate a transaction irrespective of (Fin/Non-Fin) transaction.

Aadhaar Enabled Payment System is a payment service empowering a bank customer to use Aadhaar as his/her identity to access his/ her respective Aadhaar enabled bank account and perform basic banking transactions like balance enquiry, cash deposit, cash withdrawal, remittances through a Business Correspondent.

The above services are available in both inter-bank and intra-bank modes.
The customer looking to avail AePS should mandatorily:
- Customer must have a bank account with a bank participating in AePS
- Customer Aadhar should be linked to his/her bank account.
- Transaction is completed using his/her biometric authentication only.
Transaction done by USFB customer on other bank’s AePS terminal.
Transaction done by USFB customer on USFB’s own AePS terminal.
Transaction done by customer of other bank on USFB’s terminal such transaction is also known as inter-bank transaction.
The bank who has deployed the AePS terminal on which transaction is done for cash deposit, cash withdrawal, fund transfer as well as non-financial transaction such as balance enquiry and mini statement.
Issuer bank in AePS parlance means the bank in which the user holds his/her account and Aadhaar is mapped for doing AEPS Transactions.
RRN number is a 12-digit number generated to record the transaction and to identify a transaction uniquely.
If the customer enters incorrect Aadhaar number/selects an incorrect bank where he/she does not have an Aadhaar linked bank account, the transaction will decline with an appropriate response message. Further, as a customer may link his/her Aadhaar with multiple banks, customer should select the correct bank, from where he wishes to perform transaction.
If a customer linked his/her Aadhaar with multiple banks, while performing the transaction customer should select the correct bank from drop down, from where he wishes to perform transaction.
In case, customer has more than on account with the selected bank then only the primary account will be debited and customer cannot make a selection of bank account at the time of transaction.
Carrying Aadhaar card is not mandatory but customer should be able to share Aadhaar number and linkage of Aadhaar Number with bank account is a prerequisite for transaction to be processed successfully.
As of now no transactional charges will be levied on the customer if he/she avails the services at any BC points/terminal of the bank.
The customer can raise a dispute/complaint with the bank they hold the account. Bank will further raise it with the concerned bank via NPCI’s Dispute Management system.
